What this Developer tool does
마크업에서 안전하게 표시하도록 HTML 민감 문자를 이스케이프합니다. It helps developers format, validate, encode, decode, inspect, generate, or debug small pieces of technical data.
HTML Escape helps with developer work directly in the browser. Use it for fast formatting, encoding, decoding, hashing, validation, and debugging tasks.
How to use HTML Escape
- Open the live tool at /tools/html-escape.
- Paste the relevant code, token, JSON, CSV, URL, color, cron expression, regex pattern, or technical text into the input field.
- Run HTML Escape and check the generated result before using it in production work.
Best use cases for HTML Escape
- Debug API responses, configuration snippets, tokens, and structured data.
- Prepare clean output for documentation, tickets, tests, or code review.
- Avoid opening heavy desktop tools for quick developer checks.
Examples and checks for HTML Escape
Example inputs
- A user comment or form field being inserted into a page
- A code sample you want to display as literal text
- Text containing ampersands, angle brackets or quotes
Common mistakes to avoid
- Escaping already-escaped output and double-encoding entities
- Escaping once and reusing the value in an attribute or JavaScript context
- Escaping at storage time instead of at output time
Output checklist
- Check ampersands were escaped before the other characters
- Confirm quotes are escaped where the value sits in an attribute
- View the rendered page and check the text displays literally
Escaping does not sanitise anything, so do not paste live tokens or private keys on the assumption that the encoded output is safe to share.

Review before publishing
Do not paste production secrets, private keys, or sensitive credentials into any online utility unless you understand the risk.

Frequently asked questions
- Is HTML Escape free to use?
- Yes. HTML Escape is available on the free plan with 20 daily runs. Paid plans add higher quotas for repeat work.
- Which characters need escaping in HTML?
- The minimum is &, < and >, plus the quote characters when the value lands inside an attribute. Without escaping, a < coming from user input is parsed as the start of a tag instead of as text.
- Does escaping HTML prevent XSS?
- It closes the main vector, injected markup in an HTML text context, but it is not a complete defence. Attribute values, inline JavaScript and URL contexts each need their own context-specific escaping or sanitising.
- Why did my & turn into &?
- Because you escaped output that had already been escaped. Escape exactly once, on the raw value, at the moment you insert it into markup — re-escaping existing entities is what produces stray & sequences appear in rendered pages.
- Should I escape text before saving it to a database?
- No. Store the raw value and escape on output. Escaping at write time corrupts the data for every non-HTML consumer such as APIs, feeds and plain-text email, and you cannot reliably unescape it later.
