Frequently asked questions

Is Batch Image Resize free to use?
Yes. Batch Image Resize is available on the free plan with 20 daily runs. Paid plans add higher quotas for repeat work.
What happens to images with different aspect ratios?
Setting both width and height forces every image into one shape and stretches the odd ones. Setting a single side scales the rest proportionally and is much safer for a mixed batch.
Why do the resized images look softer?
Downscaling throws pixels away and needs interpolation. Going from 4000 pixels wide to 500 discards a lot of detail, though a light sharpen afterwards restores some apparent crispness.
Are my originals overwritten?
No. The resized files arrive as a ZIP, so the images on your machine are untouched.
Can I resize upwards as well as down?
Technically yes, but enlarging cannot invent detail that was never captured. If a batch needs to be bigger, question whether the source images were too small to begin with.
