Compress Product Photos for Marketplace Listings

Upload limits and slow listing pages are the two reasons sellers compress photos, and doing it as a batch keeps an entire catalogue looking like it came from one shop rather than five.

Pick one target and stay with it

Marketplaces usually cap both the file size and the pixel dimensions. Choose a width the platform displays, often somewhere around 1200 to 1600 pixels, and a file target comfortably under the cap, then apply the same settings to every photo so the grid does not look uneven.

Keep the originals

Compression is not reversible. Archive the full-size files and re-export from them if the platform changes its limits later, rather than compressing an already compressed image a second time.

Frequently asked questions

Will compression reduce the visible quality?
At typical listing sizes the difference is hard to see. Check one image at full size before running the whole set.
Can I upload a folder of images?
Add the individual files; the tool compresses them together and returns the set as a ZIP.
What format should listing photos use?
JPG for photographs. It is accepted everywhere and compresses better than PNG for photographic content.
