Frequently asked questions
- Is ROAS Calculator free to use?
- Yes. ROAS Calculator is available on the free plan with 20 daily runs. Paid plans add higher quotas for repeat work.
- What counts as a good ROAS?
- It depends on your margin rather than a universal benchmark. A 4 to 1 return is break-even at a 25% gross margin, while a business keeping 60% can profit at 2 to 1, so work out your own break-even figure before judging a campaign.
- How do I calculate my break-even ROAS?
- Divide 1 by your gross margin: at a 40% margin the break-even point is 2.5 to 1, because 2.50 of revenue returns 1.00 of gross profit to cover the ad spend. Below that, every sale loses money even while revenue grows.
- Does ROAS include the cost of the product?
- No. It divides revenue by ad spend only, ignoring cost of goods, shipping, platform fees and overhead, which is why a 5 to 1 ROAS can still lose money and why profit on ad spend is the more useful measure when you have cost data.
- Is ROAS the same as ROI?
- No. ROAS is revenue divided by ad spend and written as a ratio, while ROI is profit divided by total investment and written as a percentage; a 4 to 1 ROAS is a 400% return on ad spend but nowhere near 400% ROI once costs are counted.
