Regex Tester Online
Prueba una expresión regular contra un texto y revisa las coincidencias.
What this Developer tool does
Prueba una expresión regular contra un texto y revisa las coincidencias. It helps developers format, validate, encode, decode, inspect, generate, or debug small pieces of technical data.
Regex Tester helps with developer work directly in the browser. Use it for fast formatting, encoding, decoding, hashing, validation, and debugging tasks.
How to use Regex Tester
- Open the live tool at /tools/regex-tester.
- Paste the relevant code, token, JSON, CSV, URL, color, cron expression, regex pattern, or technical text into the input field.
- Run Regex Tester and check the generated result before using it in production work.
Best use cases for Regex Tester
- Debug API responses, configuration snippets, tokens, and structured data.
- Prepare clean output for documentation, tickets, tests, or code review.
- Avoid opening heavy desktop tools for quick developer checks.
Examples and checks for Regex Tester
Example inputs
- An email, URL or log-line pattern
- A validation rule for a form field
- A search-and-replace pattern for a text editor
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming your target language shares the same regex flavour
- Leaving out anchors so the pattern matches substrings it should not
- Writing nested quantifiers that backtrack catastrophically
Output checklist
- Test text that should match and text that should not
- Check flags, anchors and case sensitivity
- Run the pattern in your real language before shipping
Log lines and sample records often contain emails, tokens or customer data, so trim them down to the fields the pattern actually needs.
Regex Tester inputs
Paste the relevant code, token, JSON, CSV, URL, color, cron expression, regex pattern, or technical text into the input field.
Regex Tester output
The result is formatted, validated, decoded, encoded, generated, or explained output ready to copy into a development workflow.
Review before publishing
Do not paste production secrets, private keys, or sensitive credentials into any online utility unless you understand the risk.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Regex Tester free to use?
- Yes. Regex Tester is available on the free plan with 20 daily runs. Paid plans add higher quotas for repeat work.
- Why does my pattern work in one language but not another?
- Regular expression flavours differ: JavaScript, PCRE, Python and Go disagree on lookbehind, named groups, Unicode property escapes and default flags, so a pattern that passes here can still fail in the engine that runs it. Test it in your actual runtime.
- What does a greedy quantifier do to my match?
- It takes as much as it can and then backtracks, so .* inside angle brackets matches from the first opening bracket to the last closing one. Add ? to make it lazy when you want the shortest match instead.
- My pattern looks correct but never matches. What should I check first?
- Anchors and flags first: ^ and $ bind to the whole string or to each line depending on the multiline flag, and a case-sensitivity mismatch is the other common cause. Then look for unescaped special characters such as a literal dot or plus.
- Can a regex hang my process?
- Yes. Nested quantifiers such as (a+)+$ against a non-matching string cause catastrophic backtracking, which can pin a CPU for a very long time. Prefer a simpler pattern, or atomic groups and possessive quantifiers where the engine supports them.
